Welcome to Design and Technology!
The exciting and ever changing world of Technology continues to develop at great speed and we in the Faculty of Technology at Witton Park are enthusiastic to be part of it.
We have a dedicated and experienced team of specialist teachers and invaluable technician support. We enjoy excellent facilities, which enable our pupils to experience the best opportunities in technological education.
Our suite of classrooms include a recently refurbished food technology room, a fully networked CAD/CAM facility and rooms for graphic design, textiles technology, electronics and two large multi-media workshops.

During years 7 to 9 pupils spend time in each area learning the basics of each separate specialism. They design and make a host of different products that stimulate their interest and develop their growing skills and confidence.
During years 10 and 11 our pupils select one area to study for the GCSE in Design and Technology. At the present time we offer our pupils the opportunity to take one of the AQA courses such as: Food, Textiles, Graphic Products or Resistant Materials Technology. Details of the Resistant Materials syllabus can be found here. A change is planned for 2009 when we plan to use the EDEXCEL range of GCSE's.It isn't just in lessons that Technology can be enjoyed, we hold "Technology" days, when a whole year group spend the day on activities with both their teachers and outside advisors from the world of work.
|
 |
| We regularly compete in various "Technology" themed competitions such as those organised by BAe Systems, The Rotary Club, The Ritherdon Challenge, Blackburn College and others. In recent years our teams have taken first place and come a close second in these events. We have great hopes for the future too! We plan to modernise further areas of our facilities and obviously are keen to help in the design of the best modern facilities in our coming new buildings. Academically speaking, we are keen to offer our pupils a greater range of qualifications to aspire to. |
